Dr Rob Rule — Director
Rob has extensive experience of the sector having previously worked for Liverpool Ventures Ltd, an investor in early-stage technology, where he was Business Director. Prior to that, Rob was Group Commercial Director of Micap plc and he also has extensive international blue-chip experience with ICI and DuPont. Rob has a first class degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Bristol, a PhD in Materials Structure from the University of Liverpool and a Business Masters degree from the University of Warwick. Rob’s role as Operations Director is to take an active position in the development of BioServ UK and expand its’ portfolio of service capabilities and partners.
Dr Simon Smith — Technical Director
Simon has 20 years experience in antibody production and processing and was instrumental in establishing a core facility at the University of Sheffield where he also completed his PhD in the Department of Biochemistry. The antibody production facility at Sheffield gained a reputation as a National Centre of good practice with emphasis on provision of quality products. In his role as Technical Director, Simon manages all the laboratory based programmes at BioServ UK and is responsible for implementing new services and technologies.
Dr Lynda Partridge — Scientific Director
Lynda has extensive research experience in molecular immunology and antibody technology. After her PhD in Immunology at the University of Birmingham, Lynda joined the University of Sheffield as a Researcher in the 1980s. She established hybridoma techniques here and successfully obtained support for a dedicated facility for antibody production at the University, forming the roots of BioServ UK. As Scientific Director, Lynda takes an active interest in emerging technologies and the company’s scientific development.
Rachel Birds — Commercial Director
Rachel has over 15 years’ experience in and around the further and higher education sector where she has been involved in the management of teaching, research and knowledge transfer facilities. She holds a masters degree in Management Studies and her current research as a doctoral student at the University of Sheffield focuses on issues around knowledge transfer and the role of university spin out companies. As Commercial Director, she takes overall responsibility for all aspects of the administration of BioServ UK, including the finance and human resource portfolios.
